COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Maryland gymnastics senior
Audrey Barber has announced that she will return for the 2021-22 season, taking advantage of the extra year of eligibility granted by the NCAA for student-athletes that had their season impacted by COVID-19.

"I have been so grateful to call Maryland my home for my entire life, I am overjoyed to announce that I will remain at home at the University of Maryland next year," said Barber. "Gymnastics has always been one of the most important parts of my life, I am so excited I get one more year to compete in the sport that I love, in the place that I love alongside my best friends and supportive coaching staff."

Brett Nelligan. "Audrey has already accomplished so much in her gymnastics career and now she has a chance to cement herself as one of the all time greats in Maryland Gymnastics history."Â
Barber is a two-time first team All-Big Ten, second team All-Big Ten, four year Gymnast to Watch and three-time NCAA regional qualifier. She set the program record for highest bar score (9.950) in school history in her junior season.Â
The Temple Hills, Md. native ranks in the Top-10 in the Maryland gymnastics all-time scoring list and has competed as a four-year all-arounder in more than 33 meets in her career.
