Maryland, Baylor Set for Two-Year Series

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The University of Maryland and Baylor University women's basketball programs have agreed to a two-year, home-and-home series beginning this fall in College Park.
The Terrapins and the Lady Bears will tip off at the XFINITY Center on Sunday, Nov. 21. The Terps will make the return trip to Waco, Texas in the 2022-23 season.
Maryland and Baylor have met just once before with the Terrapins taking the matchup. The Terps beat the defending national champion Lady Bears, 82-63, in the 2006 Sweet Sixteen, en route to the Terps' national championship.
Maryland returns all five starters, all five All-Big Ten honorees and 10 of 11 letterwinners from last year's Big Ten Championship squad. The Terrapins return their top eight leading scorers from last year's squad, which led the nation in scoring with 90.8 points per game and advanced to the Sweet Sixteen. Rising juniors Ashley Owusu and Diamond Miller are Maryland's leading returning scorers. They both earned All-Big Ten First Team honors and were Big Ten Tournament Co-MOPs.
Baylor welcomes new head coach Nikki Collen this season. Collen recently hired former Terrapin Chloe Pavlech as an assistant coach. The Lady Bears advanced to the Elite Eight in the 2021 NCAA Tournament.
The Terrapins' full non-conference slate will be announced in the coming days. Season tickets are now on sale at umterps.com.
