COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland scored a goal in each half, getting tallies from Kori Locksley and Alyssa Poarch as the Terrapins (2-0) clinched a 2-0 victory over George Mason (0-2) Sunday night. Maryland controlled play and held a 1-0 lead for the majority of regulation, before Poarch added insurance for the Terps in the 73^rd minute.

STARTING HOT

Maryland is now 2-0 for the third time under head coach Ray Leone, and will have the chance to start 3-0 for the first time since the 2017 season when Maryland went undefeated in non-conference play (6-0-1).
After not having to make a save in the season opener, Graduate transfer goalkeeper Liz Brucia made four saves to secure her second clean sheet of the season.
This is the first time since 2015 that Maryland has started the season with back-to-back shutouts

LOCKSLEY SCORES FIRST AS TERP

Graduate transfer Kori Locksley scored her first goal as a Terrapin against the Patriots, giving the Terps an early 1-0 edge with a goal in the third minute.
Locksley scored four goals during her career at Auburn, and already notched an assist in Maryland's season-opening win vs. Temple.

GOING POSTAL

After netting a goal in the first three minutes of the contest, the Terps were plagued by unlucky breaks as Alyssa Poarch, Mikayla Dayes and Catherine DeRosa all hit the post of a series of chances throughout the first half.
Maryland outshot the Patriots 14-3 in the opening half and 22-8 overall.

LEONE AND PUPPIONE FACE OFF

Former Maryland assistant Manya Puppione squared off against Leone in their first meeting against each other as head coaches.
Sunday marked the first home game for Puppione since being named the head coach at George Mason this summer.

NEXT UP

Maryland will play its first game of a three-game home stand Thursday, August 26 when the Terrapins host Richmond at 4:30 p.m. The game will serve as the front end of a Ludwig Field doubleheader with the Maryland men's soccer team, which hosts Charlotte at 7 p.m.
