
Donville Selected No. 1 Overall in NLL Draft

COLLEGE PARK, MD – Graduate transfer Jonathan Donville was selected No. 1 overall in the 2021 National Lacrosse League entry draft Saturday night by the Panther City Lacrosse Club. Donville is the first-ever entry draft selection for the upstart franchise based out of Fort Worth, Texas, which will begin its inaugural season in 2021-22.
Donville becomes the first Terrapin to ever be selected No. 1 overall in the NLL entry draft, and the sixth first round pick in program history. Additionally, Logan Wisnauskas (Colorado Mammoth - Round 3), graduate transfer Owen Prybylski (Vancouver Warriors - Round 4), graduate transfer Keegan Khan (Colorado Mammoth - Round 4) and Jake Higgins (Colorado Mammoth - Round 5) were all drafted.
Donville transferred to Maryland from Cornell where he spent three seasons with the Big Red. The Oakville, Ontario native was named an Inside Lacrosse Second Team All-American in 2020 after recording 13 goals and seven assists in five games before the season was canceled due to Covid-19.
He garnered preseason All-American honors from the USILA and Inside Lacrosse in 2021, but did not compete as the Ivy League suspended competition for spring sports.
Prybylski was drafted 51st overall and comes to Maryland a season removed from an Honorable Mention Inside Lacrosse All-American season at Villanova. The defenseman started in 49 games for the Wildcats, collecting 86 ground balls and causing 47 turnovers.
Khan was selected 54th overall and comes to Maryland after a four-year career a Villanova, where he was named an Honorable Mention USILA All-American and First Team All-Big East performer in 2021. He appeared in 50 career games for the Wildcats tallying 179 points, which ranks fifth all-time in school history.
Higgins was chosen 69th overall is back for the Terps in 2022 after appearing in nine games in 2021 as one of the team's primary short stick defensive midfielders. Higgins scored a goal, scooped 12 ground balls and caused a turnover before suffering a season-ending injury in April.
