Women's Lacrosse Adds Five Transfers for 2022

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- University of Maryland women's lacrosse coach Cathy Reese has announced the addition of five transfers to the roster for the 2022 season.

Graduate students Abby Bosco and Aurora Cordingley, sophomores Clancy Rheude and Shannon Smith and redshirt freshman Natalie Pansini will all join the women's lacrosse program.

"I am so excited to welcome each one of these five outstanding student-athletes to our program," said Reese. "Aurora, Abby, Clancy, Shannon and Natalie each bring a dynamic skill set and will help our team both next year and in the future. I can't wait to get started with them in the fall and see what they can accomplish in College Park."

Aurora Cordingley, a graduate attacker, comes to Maryland from Johns Hopkins where she played four seasons for the Blue Jays in the Big Ten, standing top-10 in Hopkins program Division 1 history in points (182), goals (116) and assists (66).

In her senior 2021 season, the Oakville, Ontario native was named an IWLCA Third Team All-American and First Team All-Big Ten selection after leading the Blue Jays in goals (39) and points (57) for the second straight year and standing third in assists (18). Cordingley ranked fifth in the Big Ten in points (3.80), eighth in goals (2.60) and ninth in assists (1.20). She had 14 multi-point games and is currently on a 44-game point streak. In addition, Cordingley ranked third on the team in caused turnovers (15) and fourth in draw controls (28). Throughout the season Cordingley was named to the Tewaaraton Watch List, the US Lacrosse National Player of the Week on April 13 and a IWLCA First Team All-Region selection.

Cordingley plays internationally for Team Canada as well, being the youngest player ever selected to the Team Canada U-19 Team and a Gold Medalist at the 2015 World Lacrosse U19 Championship. The graduate student earned her degree from Johns Hopkins in international studies and plans on getting her masters at Maryland in business management.

Abby Bosco, a graduate defender, comes to Maryland from the University of Pennsylvania where she played three seasons with the Quakers, totaling 90 groundballs, 81 draw controls and 42 caused turnovers to go with 18 goals and two assists while playing midfield.

Hailing from Suffern, New York, Bosco was a 2019 Second Team All-Ivy selection and was named a Third Team Inside Lacrosse All-American after the COVID-19 shortened 2020 season where she started in all five games and finished the season with 13 ground balls, 12 caused turnovers and 12 draw controls. Bosco plans on getting her masters in professional studies in technology entrepreneurship at Maryland.

Clancy Rhuede, a sophomore defender, comes to Maryland from Albany, where she was named the 2021 America East Co-Defensive Player of the Year. Rhuede has started in all 22 games she appeared in over two seasons at Albany, totaling 116 draw controls, 47 groundballs and 24 caused turnovers.

The Canandaigua, N.Y. native ranked second in the America East in ground balls, third in draw controls, and fourth in caused turnovers in 2021 en route to First Team honors, while also being named an IWLCA All-Northeast Second Team honoree. Rhuede went to the same high school as current Terp LaRen Blakesley.
