
Brionna Jones Named AP Most Improved

COLLEGE PARK, MD -- Maryland women's basketball alumna Brionna Jones was named the WNBA's Most Improved Player by the Associated Press Wednesday.
Now in her fifth season in the league, Jones has started in all 32 games for the first-place Connecticut Sun. She has averaged a career-best 14.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and shot 57.1% from the field this season. She picked up four double-doubles and was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week last month.
The Sun have won 14 straight games to earn the top seed in the WNBA Playoffs, which start Thursday, Sept. 23. There are four former Terrapins on the Sun's roster - Jones, Stephanie Jones, Alyssa Thomas and Kaila Charles. The WNBA will unveil its postseason awards as the Playoffs begin.
