
Terps Complete Play in Bedford Cup

COLLEGE PARK, MD - The Maryland women's tennis team rounded out play in the Bedford Cup on Sunday, with sophomore Minorka Miranda and freshman Francesca Feodorov each picking up singles victories.
Feodorov started the day off right for the Terps, taking a straight set victory over George Mason's Hannah Yang 6-0, 6-2. Feodorov continued her winning streak by over Loyola's Genevieve Wurtz, shutting the Greyhound out 6-0, 6-0 to move to the semi-finals. The Terp then met her match against Katarina Marinkovikj of George Washington, falling in a tough three sets 6-4, 3-6, 6-10. Feodorov then bounced back over Towson's Jessica Assenmacher, securing third place with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout against the Tiger.
Miranda fought in a battle against VCU's Gabriela Davidescu, ultimately taking the win in the tiebreaker, 6-3, 3-6, 10-8. The Terp then took on Delaware's Eliza Askarova, falling 7-6(6), 2-1. Vera Markovic faced Sifa Butcher of Howard, falling in two sets 1-6, 4-6.
After a first round bye, newcomer Jojo Bach fought against GW's Stella Wiesemann, but fell 1-6, 1-6. Bach then redeemed herself by defeating No. 1 seed Nina Sorkin in a three set show, 6-3, 3-6, 11-9. The Terp ended the weekend with a win, defeating Amira Badawi 6-4, 6-3.
Maryland will continue their fall slate in the ITA Regionals, Oct. 1-3 in Annapolis, MD.
