2021-22Â STORYLINES
ENHANCED SAFETY MEASURES
- In response to the recent increase in COVID-19 cases in our region, Maryland Athletics is announcing several new measures to improve the fan experience for all guests for the Jan. 6 game vs. Penn State.
- Concessions: Due to health and safety protocols related to COVID-19, concessions will not be available to patrons for the home game on Jan. 6. Courtside Club will also be unavailable for these two games
- Increased enforcement of indoor mask-wearing mandate: All patrons who are not in compliance with the requirement will be issued a verbal warning. If that patron continues to not be in compliance with our policies, they will be required to leave the arena, without refund.
- Flexible seat relocations:Â For those patrons who wish to have a little more physical space between other fans, Maryland Athletics will allow flexible seat relocation to less-populated sections (including the upper deck and student sections).
- KN95 Masks:Â The wearing of KN95 masks has been proven to significantly reduce the chances of infection. Maryland Athletics encourages all fans to wear KN95 during our upcoming games.Â

- Most recently, the Terps fell at No. 8 Indiana, 70-63, in overtime Sunday. Maryland ended regulation on a 10-1 run to force overtime. Angel Reese led the way with 22 points and 12 boards and was named to the Big Ten Player of the Week Honor Roll for the fourth time this year. Diamond Miller poured in 17 points.
- The Terps are No. 2 in the country in free throws made (227) and No. 7 in turnovers per game (11.4). Angel Reese leads the nation in offensive rebounds (5.2), is No. 3 in the nation in free throw attempts (100)Â and No. 6 in double-doubles (8). Ashley Owusu is No. 6 in the country in free throws made (67) and No. 9 in free throw attempts (82).
- Juniors Diamond Miller and Ashley Owusu were named to the Wooden Top 50, Watch Watch and Naismith Trophy watch lists earlier this month.
- Katie Benzan was named a candidate for the Senior CLASS Award earlied this month.
- The Terps have won 30 straight home games since Nov. 17, 2019 when they beat Delaware, 99-55. This is currently the longest active streak in the country.
- The 2021-22 Terrapins return all five starters from last year's Big Ten championship squad. The Terps also return 10 of 11 letterwinners and 93 percent of their scoring from last year's team that led the nation in scoring (90.8).
- Maryland is ranked No. 10 in the latest AP Poll and No. 9 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. The Terps were ranked No. 4 in the AP Preseason Poll, as well as in the Sports Illustrated and NCAA.com Preseason Polls.Â
- The Terps were picked to win the Big Ten by the league's head coaches and media panel. Ashley Owusu and Diamond Miller were both named to the 10-player Preseason All-Big Ten Team.
- Four Terps were named to watch lists for national player of the year for their respective positions. Owusu was named to the Nancy Lieberman Award Watch List (point guard), Miller and Katie Benzan were named to the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Watch List (shooting guard) and Chloe Bibby was named to the Cheryl Miller Award Watch List (small forward).

- Head coach Brenda Frese is in her 20th season in College Park. She's led the Terrapins to a record of 522-135 (.795), 14 conference titles, 17 NCAA Tournament bids in 19 postseasons, three Final Fours, six Elite Eights, six Sweet Sixteens and the 2006 NCAA Championship.Â
- Frese was named National Coach of the Year by the AP, The Athletic and ESPN at the end of the 2020-21 season. In October, Frese was the first woman inducted into the Washington DC Metro Basketball Hall of Fame.
- With the Terrapins' win at Nebraska on Feb. 14, 2021, Frese picked up win No. 500 at Maryland, which makes her the winningest coach in Maryland basketball history. Hall of Fame women's basketball head coach Chris Weller won 499 games in her 27 seasons (1975-02).
