Miller Named to Ann Meyers Drysdale Watch List

SPRINGFIELD, MA – Senior Diamond Miller of the 17th-ranked Maryland women's basketball team is one of 20 watch-list candidates for the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award, an annual honor recognizing the top shooting guard in women's NCAA Division I college basketball.
This is the second straight season Miller was named to the Ann Meyers Drysdale Watch List. She was named to the All-Big Ten Preseason Team earlier this month for the second straight season as well.
Miller, a two-time All-Big Ten honoree and 2021 Big Ten Tournament Co-MVP, is Maryland's leading returning scorer after averaging 13.1 points and 4.0 rebounds last year. Miller earned All-Big Ten Second Team honors. She scored in double figures in 17 of her 22 games played on the year.
Miller became the 36th Terrapin to reach the 1,000-career points mark with her 23-point performance in the Terps' NCAA Tournament First Round win over Delaware.
Fans are encouraged to participate in Fan Voting, presented by Dell Technologies, in each of the three rounds starting Friday, Oct. 21. In late January, the watch list of 20 players for the 2023 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award will be narrowed to 10 and then in late February to just five. In March the five finalists will be presented to Meyers Drysdale and the Hall of Fame's selection committee where a winner will be selected.
The winner of the 2023 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award will be presented on a to be determined date, along with the other four members of the Women's Starting Five. Additional awards being presented include the Nancy Lieberman Award (Point Guard), Cheryl Miller Award (Small Forward), Katrina McClain Award (Power Forward) and the Lisa Leslie Award (Center), in addition to the Men's Starting Five.

The Terrapins, who were ranked No. 17 in the AP Preseason poll, were picked to finish fourth in the Big Ten by both the league's head coaches and media panel. Both groups picked Iowa to win the conference.
The Terrapins will host two of last year's Final Four teams, as they play one of the toughest schedules in the country. Their out of conference schedule is highlighted by home matchups with defending national champion No. 1 South Carolina and No. 6 Connecticut, as well as road trips to No. 18 Baylor and No. 9 Notre Dame.

Two-time National Coach of the Year Brenda Frese brings in nine new players this season, including AP Honorable Mention All-American honoree Abby Meyers (Princeton), All-SEC transfer Lavender Briggs (Florida), All-AAC transfer Elisa Pinzan (USF), SEC graduate transfer Brinae Alexander (Vanderbilt) and All-CAA transfer Allie Kubek (Towson). Last spring, Frese also signed two top-55 incoming freshmen in Gia Cooke and Brianna McDaniel. Incoming freshman Ava Sciolla and Mila Reynolds signed with Maryland in November, giving the Terrapins a top 10 recruiting class for the 15th time under Frese.
