No. 14 Terps Pull Away Late, Top Towson 81-70

FORT MYERS, FL -- Diamond Miller and Faith Masonius both had big days and the No. 14 Terps ran away with the game late en route to a 81-70 win over Towson in the second game of the Elevance Health Women's Fort Myers Tip-Off.

Miller poured in a game-high 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting to lead the way for Maryland. Masonius was equally impressive with a season-high 14 points and 2-of-3 makes from three. Miller grabbed seven rebounds, leading the Terps in that category, while Masonius was second with six boards.

Shyanne Sellers (14) and Abby Meyers (11) also hit double-figure scoring to boost the Terps to their first win in Fort Myers.

Maryland outscored Towson in all four quarters of action. The Terps also shot 14-19 from the charity stripe, with Sellers and Miller both going a perfect 4-of-4.

The Terps took advantage of a 7-0 run to close the first half and a 9-4 advantage to open the fourth quarter to hold off the Tigers.

Maryland moved to 5-2 on the young season while Towson dropped to 3-2.

Brenda's Take

"I thought we settled in the second half. Defensively, we were able to make more stops and we were able to execute on the offensive end. I like the fact that we were able to share the basketball with 18 assists and 11 turnovers."
