COLLEGE PARK, MD -- The 16^th-ranked Maryland women's basketball team (10-3, 1-1 B1G) will return to action with a matchup vs. Minnesota (8-5, 1-1) Friday, Dec. 30 at 2 p.m. at the XFINITY Center. Friday's game is the Terrapins' first LGBTQ+ Pride Night. The Terrapins will also sign autographs postgame.

Due to increased security measures this season, the ADA hallway near Gate C on the ground level of the XFINITY Center will remain closed to fans while occupied by teams on game day, both pregame and postgame. Once clear by teams, fans may be escorted through the hallway by a security staff member. Please expect delays in using this entrance to the arena. Fans are encouraged to enter and exit the arena via the concourse level.

What's UP

Maryland is coming off of an 88-51 win at Purdue Fort Wayne on Dec. 21. Shyanne Sellers scored 18 points, Diamond Miller added 17 and Abby Meyers and Brinae Alexander also hit double figures.
The Terrapins have the second-toughest schedule in the country, according to the Massey Ratings. The Terrapins picked up three wins over ranked teams in the non-conference, five wins over Power 5 teams and have an RPI of No. 6.
Maryland currently has three 1,000 point scorers (Miller - 1,254; Meyers - 1,130; Briggs - 1,029) and two players nearing the mark - Brinae Alexander (963) and Elisa Pinzan (969).
Maryland women's basketball is in its 52nd season and owns a record of 1,088-446 (.709). The Terrapins are No. 11 all-time in NCAA Division I history in winning percentage and No. 9 in all-time victories.
Senior Diamond Miller was named to the 10-player Preseason All-Big Ten Team for the second straight season to start the year. She is a two-time All-Big Ten honoree and was the 2021 Big Ten Tournament Co-MOP.
Miller is one of 20 top players in the country on the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Watch List, an honor by the Basketball Hall of Fame recognizing the top shooting guard in women's NCAA Division I basketball. Miller was named to the watch list last year as well.
Miller was also named to the Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Watch List as one of the top 50 players in the country.
Sophomore Shyanne Sellers is one of 20 top players in the country on the Cheryl Miller Award Watch List, an honor by the Basketball Hall of Fame recognizing the top small forward in women's NCAA Division I basketball.
Maryland was picked to finish fourth in the Big Ten by both the league's head coaches and media panel. Both groups picked Iowa to win the conference. The coaches selected Ohio State to finish second, Indiana to finish third with Michigan rounding out the top five. The media panel picked Indiana to finish second, Ohio State third and Michigan fifth.
Two-time National Coach of the Year Brenda Frese brings in nine new players this season, including AP Honorable Mention All-American honoree Abby Meyers (Princeton), All-SEC transfer Lavender Briggs (Florida), All-AAC transfer Elisa Pinzan (USF), SEC graduate transfer Brinae Alexander (Vanderbilt) and All-CAA transfer Allie Kubek (Towson).
All five transfers averaged over 9.0 points per game last year - Meyers (17.9), Alexander (15.2), Briggs (12.5), Kubek (12.2) and Pinzan (9.3).
Last spring, Frese also signed two top-55 incoming freshmen in Gia Cooke and Bri McDaniel. Incoming freshman Ava Sciolla and Mila Reynolds signed with Maryland last November, giving the Terrapins a top 10 recruiting class for the 15th time under Frese.

Frese owns a career record of 602-173 (.777) over her 24 years as a head coach.
Frese was named National Coach of the Year by the AP, The Athletic and ESPN at the end of the 2020-21 season. In October, Frese was the first woman inducted into the Washington DC Metro Basketball Hall of Fame.
With the Terrapins' win at Nebraska on Feb. 14, 2021, Frese picked up win No. 500 at Maryland, which makes her the winningest coach in Maryland basketball history. Hall of Fame women's basketball head coach Chris Weller won 499 games in her 27 seasons (1975-02).
