Richardson Named Third-Team All-American

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Maryland men's soccer student-athlete Nick Richardson was named a third team All-American by the United Soccer Coaches, the organization announced Friday afternoon.

The United Soccer Coaches previously selected Richardson as a first-team All-Region honoree. The Baltimore native makes it consecutive years that the Terps have had an All-American after Ben Bender was a first-team pick in 2021.

Richardson had his best season as a Terp as a redshirt senior. He is tied for second in the Big Ten in assists with eight and has added three goals from his right back position. He was named First-Team All-Big Ten and was the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week on two occasions this season. A team captain, Richardson was previously named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team in 2019.

For his career, Richardson started all 67 matches he played and ended his career with three goals and 13 assists. He is a 4x Academic All-Big Ten selection and will participate in this weekend's MLS Player Showcase.
