Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

No. 14 Terps Suppress Sparty, 67-62, For Fourth Win In Row

EAST LANSING, MI – The No. 14 Maryland women's basketball team captured its fourth game in a row as the Terpsbeat Michigan State, 67-62, on Thursday night at the Breslin Center. The Terps (16-6, 8-3 Big Ten) were led by Angel Reese, who scored a game-high 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds.

Diamond Miller notched 14 points, grabbed nine rebounds and had three blocks. Shyanne Sellers had a great all-around game with nine points, seven rebounds, a team-best five assists and team-high four steals.

The Terps grabbed a lead less than two minutes into the game and kept the advantage throughout, leading by as many as 10 points on several occasions. Michigan State cut its deficit to as small as two points with 48 seconds left in regulation at 64-62, but the Terps never relinquished the lead.

Maryland's win wrapped up a whirlwind day as the Terps flew to Michigan on Thursday morning after their flight was postponed on Wednesday due to snow in the Midwest.

Nia Clouden led Michigan State (12-9, 6-4) with 22 points.

Brenda Frese's Take
"We've spent a lot of time talking about a 'February Frenzy,' with it being a new month. Just thought we had great toughness by this team, tenacity, talking about the adversity we faced coming in the day of the game, losing Ashley [Owusu] in the second quarter. I thought we grew as a team on both ends of the floor. We had to have our defensive rebounding, that was huge. Just a 40-minute game of complete toughness. I thought Angel [Reese] made some big, big plays for us down the stretch. She wanted those opportunities inside. Shy [Sellers] took advantage of the minutes. She's just continuing to grow. She's just playing really poised and with great toughness on both ends of the floor. Proud of these guys. A great, tough road win against a really tough Michigan State team and we're excited about building on this momentum."
