
Mackova Gets Third Top-10 Finish of the Season

CLEMSON, SC – The Maryland women's golf team finished in a two-way for 11th at the sixth annual Clemson Invitational on Lake Keowee (Mar. 25-27) at their fourth stop of the spring season. Sophomore Patricie Mackova finished in solo sixth, posting 75-73-73 (+5). She led the field in scoring average on par three's with an average of 2.83 strokes, going (-2) over the course of the week.
"I'm so proud of Patricie and how she battled for 54 holes to lead the team with a 6th place finish," head coach Kelly Hovland. "She continues to improve and grow with each college tournament she gets under her belt and it's exciting to see what she can do as we head towards postseason."
Players teed it up over the three-day event at the par-72 - The Reserve at Lake Keowee playing at 6,386 yards, a Jack Nicklaus signature layout.

-Junior Angela Garvin finished in a seven-way tie for 30th (+12) - - (75-74-79)
-Junior Maria Vittoria Corbi finished in a three-way tie for 71st (+12) - - (74-72-76)
-Sophomore Karla Elena Vázquez Setzer finished in a five-way tie for 81st (+22) - - (81-71-80)
-Senior Elena Verticchio finished in a three-way tie for 89th (+25) - - (76-84-81)

"I'm excited to come back to College Park with three wins against ranked teams and take a lot of confidence into the final tournament of the season," said coach Hovland. "We battled extremely windy conditions with gusts of 40 mph through all three rounds but they hung tough in one of the strongest fields of the season."

The Terrapins will return to the fairways in nearly three weeks on April 15th-16th at the Lady Buckeye Invitational hosted by Big Ten foe Ohio State in Columbus, OH.
