Terps, Buckeyes Set for Saturday

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The unanimously top-ranked Maryland men's lacrosse team returns to Maryland Stadium on Saturday April 16 for a meeting with another top-ten foe, Ohio State. If Maryland wins the game, they clinch at least a share of the 2022 Big Ten Championships. It would be the Terps' second straight, and sixth overall, Big Ten regular season title. 

There are several promotions for Saturday's game. the first 100 students will receive a bucket hat. The first 150 fans will receive a tote bag while the first 300 fans will receive a red pompom.

The game will be available on Big Ten Network with streaming HERE. The game will also be broadcast on radio by Maryland Sports Properties with airings on The BET 1300 AM in Baltimore, The Team 980 in Washington DC, and the One Maryland Mobile App.

OHIO STATE STORYLINES

HIGH-OCTANE OFFENSE
  • Maryland boasts the nation's best offense. The Terps are tops in goals per game (18.3), assists per game, points per game (10.7), shooting percentage (.400), and scoring margin (8.7). All of that has the Terrapins as the lone remaining unbeaten squad.
  • Maryland has scored 20 or more goals in five games this season, a 56-day span. Maryland's previous five 20-goal games came in a 8,726-day span between April 1, 1997 and Feb. 20, 2021.This is the most 20-point games for the program since 1960.
  • Maryland is outscoring foes by 33 goals in the first quarter this season. The Terps have scored 49 total goals in the first quarter.
  • Maryland has had a hat trick in 49 straight games dating back to February 2, 2019. Logan Wisanuskas and Jared Bernhardt lead the way with 30 and 29 hat tricks respectively during that span.

  • Fifth-year senior Logan Wisnauskas has established himself as one of the most dangerous offensive players in college lacrosse during his career with the Terps, and now leads the Maryland in his final year with the program. Here's a look at Wisnauskas by the numbers. He's third in points across active players and now looks to become the program's first player with 300 points.
  • 1 - Wearing the iconic "1" jersey, Wisnauskas averages more assists per game (2.50) and points per game (5.50) while wearing the jersey than any other to wearing the number for Maryland.
  • 3 - Wisnauskas (292) is third on the active list of D1 players in points, 94 behind the active leader in Chris Gray of North Carolina (386)
  • 5 – Wisnauskas (175) is fourth on the active list of D1 players in goals, 21 behind the active leader in Gray of North Carolina (192)
  • 8 – Wisnauskas has six career eight-point games as a Terrapin – the most in program history – last posting eight (5G, 3A) in Maryland's season-opening win over High Point.
  • 33 - Wisnauskas has recorded 33 hat tricks in his career with seven this season. The 33 passes Joe Walters (32) for most by a Terp.
  • 67 - Wisnauskas has recorded a point in 67 straight games, every one of his career. He's four ahead of the next closest player, Asher Nolting of High Point.

  • Junior goalie Logan McNaney has made his mark this season with a 53.3 percent clip and 94 total saves.
  • He recorded a season-high 13 saves against No.4 Rutgers, holding them seven goals below their season average.
  • McNaney has climbed up to 17th on the all-time list with 255 career saves.
  • Junior faceoff specialist Luke Wierman is having an incredible season with a 67.3 percent rate, good for second in the country.
  • His season already ranks among the best in Terps history with his 169 faceoff victories and 251 faceoffs taken ranking eigthth and 15th respectively. He has two games with 20 or more faceoff wins this season.

  • Maryland was ranked No. 1 in the country in both the USILA Coaches Poll and the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll this week for the nine straight week. This was their fourth week as the unanimous selection.
  • The Terps have been tabbed No. 1 in at least one of the polls at some point during the year in four of the last six seasons.
