Maryland hit a season-best six home runs in the game, its most since hitting seven against Norfolk State in the 2021 NCAA Tournament last spring.
Matt Shaw and Bobby Zmarzlak also reached double-figures in homers as each his his 10th round-tripper in the game. Shaw equaled his season-high as he drove in four runs in the game as he went 2-for-5.
Luke Shliger hit the fifth home run in the game for Maryland with a two-run bomb in the seventh. Shliger scored a career-best five runs in the game as he went 3-for-4 with two RBIs. The five runs scored are the most by a Terp since Kyle Convissar vs. Duke (4/14/12), who also had five.
Kevin Keister hit the Terps' sixth homer in the eighth inning with a solo shot. He went 2-for-5 in the game.
Sean Heine got the win in relief with a scoreless inning. Nick Robinson threw two hitless, scoreless innings as well.
Navy fell to 18-23.
Breaking Down The Action
• Navy jumped put to a 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the top of the first inning as Logan Keller singled home two runs.
• The Terps answer with a deuce of their own as Shliger scored on an error and Alleyne came home on a fielder's choice by Shaw to even the game at 2-2.
• Maryland scored three runs in the third inning as Alleyne hit a two-run homer and Maxwell Costes brought home Nick Lorusso with a single down the rightfield line to make it 5-2 Terps.
• Maryland scored four runs in the fourth to take a 9-2 lead. Alleyne started the scoring for the inning with an RBI single scoring RIley Langerman. Then Shaw cracked his homer to right center for the seven-run advantage.
• Navy's Christian Policelli hit a three-run homer in the fifth to cut the Mids' deficit to 9-5.
• The Midshipmen ripped off four runs to tie the game in the sixth as Eduardo Diaz homered followed by a bases loaded walk, a sacrifice fly and RBI single level the game at 9-9.
• Maryland quickly answered as Alleyne hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth to make it 12-9.
• Zmarzlak hit a solo homer in the seventh to put the Terps up 13-9 then Shliger added a two-run shot to make it 15-9.
• Costes added a sacrifice fly to score Shaw in the eighth and Zmarzlak's groundout scored Troy Schreffler Jr., to push the Terps' lead to 17-9. Then Keister hit a solo homer to make 18-9.
Numbers To Know:
• 2: Alleyne had two home runs in a game for the second time this season as he also did it against VCU (3/8). He also hit two homer vs. Stetson in 2019, making this the third time he has a multi-homer game.
• 4: Alleyne equaled his season-high for hits with four, he also had four against Indiana State (3/5). It is his fifth career game with four or more hits. His career-high is six.
• 4: Shaw had his third four-RBI game of the season, also having done it vs. Ohio State (4/17) and at Dallas Baptist (3/26).
• 5: Shliger became the first Terp to score five runs in a game since Kyle Convissar vs. Duke (4/14/12), who also had five.
• 5: Maryland hit at least five home runs in a game for the third time this season. They also did it against Minnesota (4/8) and Illinois (4/23).
• 5: Five Terps had multiple RBIs in the game led by Alleyne's six.
• 6: Alleyne set his career-high with six RBIs. It is his fifth career game with four or more RBIs. His previous career-high is five.
