COLLEGE PARK, MD --  Maryland women's basketball head coach Brenda Frese officially welcomed transfer Allie Kubek (KOO-beck) to the program Tuesday. 
 
Kubek, a 6-2 forward from Elkton, Md, was at Towson for her first two seasons. She averaged 14.6 points and 6.2 rebounds this past season as she helped the Tigers to a 24-8 record. She earned All-CAA honors this year and was named to the All-CAA Rookie Team last season. 
 
Frese on Kubek: "We're thrilled to add Allie to our program. She and her family are Maryland people and it's been a pleasure getting to know them. Allie is a dynamic front court player who can score in different ways. She'll be able to help us stretch the defense and space the floor. She can get her own shot and she's shown she can really be a factor rebounding the ball. Allie addresses a lot of needs for us. She's already had a strong start to her college career and we want to help her keep it going. I think her teammates and our fans are going to enjoy her."
 
Kubek on Maryland: "I chose Maryland because I wanted to spend the next three years playing the sport I love for Coach Frese and her staff at Maryland's flagship university! The team made me feel super comfortable. It felt like family right away." 
 
Kubek scored in double figures in 25 of 31 games for Towson this year, including a career-high 28 points vs. James Madison. 
 
Kubek played at the Sanford School in Hockessin, Del. and was named the 2020 Delaware Gatorade Player of the Year and helped her team win the 2019 Delaware state title. 
 
Kubek is Maryland's sixth addition in the last month, joining incoming freshmen Brianna McDaniel and Gia Cooke, transfer Elisa Pinzan from USF, transfer Abby Meyers from Princeton and transfer Brinae Alexander from Vanderbilt. Incoming freshmen Ava Sciolla and Mila Reynolds signed with Maryland in November, giving the Terrapins a top 10 recruiting class for the 15th time under head coach Brenda Frese.
