COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The University of Maryland wrestling program received its 2022-23 Big Ten wrestling schedule on Tuesday.

With the Big Ten schedule announcement, and the nonconference schedule released last week, the Terps now know their path forward for the 2022-23 season. 

The conference slate begins January 8 at home against Indiana before the Terps have a twelve-day break between conference duals. Maryland returns on January 20 against Ohio State, also on its home mat at the XFINITY Center Pavilion.

The Terps then hit the road for a three-dual road swing against Illinois, Michigan State, and Michigan. Maryland's final two duals in the Big Ten come against Rutgers and Purdue in College Park. 

The team's nonconference schedule includes home duals against Bloomsburg, American, Duke, and Binghamton. Plus, the Terps will travel to face Pitt, Navy, Binghamton, and others. 

Maryland will participate in several tournaments, including the Tiger Style Invite and the Southern Scuffle. 

Postseason action begins March 4-5 at the Big Ten Championships in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The NCAA Championships will be in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at BOK Center from March 16-18. 

Entering their fourth season under head coach Alex Clemsen, the Terps are coming off a seven-win dual season featuring victories over Duke, Navy, and more.

Highlights from last season included Kyle Cochran winning the 184-pound Southern Scuffle Title, Dom Solis and Cochran earning places on the Big Ten podium, and sending that pair, plus Jaron Smith, to the NCAA Championships. 

This past summer featured the rise of Jaxon Smith as he dominated on the freestyle scene. Smith won the US Open, Pan-Am Title, and took fifth at the U20 World Championships. Smith, alongside a long list of redshirts, will be preparing for their first opportunities in a Terrapin singlet.
