COLLEGE PARK, Md. - No. 3 Maryland will host the 22nd annual Terrapin Invitational, the Terps opened the event with a 2-1 victory over No.12 Harvard. The Terps will close out the weekend facing UNH on Sunday, Sept. 11 at 2:00 p.m. The Terps went 2-0 in the event last season, including a 1-0 victory over No. 22 UMass.
 THIS WEEK'S STORYLINES
series history
	- Friday's matchup against Harvard was the fourth meeting between the two schools. The Terps hold a 4-0-0 series advantage, including a 3-1 victory in 2018.
- Maryland's Sunday game versus UNH will mark the eighth matchup against the Wildcats. Maryland has never lost to New Hampshire, boasting 7-0-0 all-time record. The Terps last win came in 2019 with a 5-0 victory in College Park, Md.
	
	
 
B1G Weekend in Boston
	- The Terps traveled to Newton, Mass. from Sept. 2-4 to play in the 7th annual B1G/ACC Cup. Maryland matched up against No.16 Duke and No.20 Boston College over the weekend.
- The Terps put up a strong offensive performance in a 7-2 victory over No. 14 Duke in a game that featured seven different goal scorers and 23-4 shot advantage.
- Maryland defeated Boston College to open their two-game stretch in Newton, taking a 3-1 win over the host school.
- Maryland currently sits ranked No. 3 in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Pre-Season Poll.
- Maryland features a talented squad that includes 2021 Big Ten Freshman of the Year Hope Rose and 2021 NCAA All-Tournament Team selection Bibi Donraadt
- The Terps retain significant production and leadership from last season's Final Four team including bringing back all three of their top point scorers from a year ago in Bibi Donraadt (33), Hope Rose (24) and Emma DeBerdine (21). 
- Maryland also brings back Graduate Student Riley Donnelly and Seniors Margot Lawn, Belle Bressler, Maura Verleg, Nathalie Fiechter, Sam Zywna, and Christina Calandra.
- Overall, the Terps return seven starters and a tremendous amount of offensive firepower across the roster with returners accounting for 48 goals and 41 assists last season.
	
	
 
Familiar Faces At The Plex
	- Friday's matchup against Harvard will feature the return of former Maryland assistant Tjerk Van Herwaarden to College Park. The former Terp assistant won five National Championships in seven season on the Maryland staff before taking the reins of Harvard's program in 2012. In 10 years at Harvard Van Herwaarden has accumulated a 103-56 overall record and has lead the Crimson to three Ivy League titles in 2016, 2018, and 2021
- Harvard assistant coach Madison Maguire returns to the Maryland Field Hockey and Women's Lacrosse Complex for the first time as a coach. The 2020 Maryland graduate and four-year starter for the Terps is a former NFHCA All-American (Second - 2019) and Senior All Star Game participant (2019).
- Harvard Freshman Bronte-May Brough comes to College Park, Md as the Crimson's leading goal scorer and a fellow teammate of Maryland Freshman Ericka Morris-Adams at the international level. The two defenders have competed together representing England in international competition and both wear No.8 for their respective teams
	
	
 
35 Years of Missy
	- Coach Missy Meharg enters her 35th season at the helm of the Terps, having led her squads to a record of 605-156-9 with a winning percentage of over 79 percent
- The nine-time National Coach of the Year has amassed 19 Final Fours, 12 NCAA title game appearances and seven NCAA Championships over her tenure
- This past season, Meharg became just the third Division I head coach to reach the 600-win mark. Her 605 wins are the most-ever by any Maryland coach in history across all sports
- Meharg has coached 56 All-Americans, 19 Conference Player of the Year recipients and six of her former student-athletes were named National Player of the Year 
 
Best of the Best on the horizon
	- The Terps play an impressive 18-game slate, consisting of 10 non-conference games and 8 conference games.
- Maryland will host 10 home games in 2022 including the 22nd annual Terrapin Invitational.
- The Terrapins will once again play one of the most difficult schedules in the nation playing 12 teams ranked in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Pre-Season Top 25 including 10 ranked in the Top 15.
