Dougherty Signs Orlinska, Kovacevic In 2024 Recruiting Class

COLLEGE PARK, MD -- The University of Maryland women's tennis team announced two signings today a part of the 2024 recruiting class, as Oliwia Orlinska and Ema Kovacevic both signed their National Letter of Intent on National Signing Day.

Before Maryland: On the singles court, Oliwia has made consistent appearances in the final rounds of junior ITF tournaments. Oliwia has reached five Quarterfinals and eight Semi Finals on the singles tour and currently holds two junior ITF Doubles Titles and has made four Finalist appearances.

Head coach Katie Dougherty: "Oliwia is a proven winner on the international junior circuit and has built a great foundation to be successful in college tennis and beyond. She is a tough and gritty athlete with a big serve and dominant forehand. Her dedication to all aspects of being a successful tennis player will thrive in our program at Maryland. Her energy and enthusiasm is contagious and we can't wait to get to work with her in College Park."

Before Maryland: Ema has reached six Quarter finals and made two Finalist appearances on the singles Junior ITF tour. In addition to Ema's singles success, she has really excelled on the doubles court and holds seven doubles Titles and recently made the final of a W15 in Duffel, Belgium.




Personal: Parents Ivana Pavlovic and Slobodan Kovacevic, sibling Mia Kovacevic. Planning to major in Aerospace Engineering.
Ema Kovacevic: "I have decided to come to Maryland because of the coaching staff, team atmosphere and highly ranked academic program."
Head coach Katie Dougherty: "Ema is an explosive and super talented all-court player.  She moves well and has a great serve.  Ema has loads of weapons and an imposing presence on the court.  We're looking forward to helping her put it all together and continue to grow her strengths on the singles court. She's an accomplished doubles player and we see her making an immediate impact in our doubles line-up and fit well into our system.  Ema is a super bright young woman who is focused, determined and fun to be around and we look forward to welcoming her to Terp Tennis family next Fall."
