COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Maryland men's soccer freshman forward
Kimani Stewart-Baynes will participate in the fourth-annual MLS College Showcase which will take place from Dec. 6-9 in Phoenix, Arizona ahead of the 2024 MLS SuperDraft on Dec. 19.
Stewart-Baynes was the Big Ten Freshman of the Year and a unanimous Big Ten All-Freshman Team selection. The Toronto native burst onto the scene in his first season in College Park, scoring three goals and notching a team leading seven assists. His 10 combined goals and assists is the most for a Maryland freshman since Eryk Williamson had six goals and five assists in 2015.
Stewart-Baynes is Maryland's second Big Ten Freshman of the Year following
Joshua Bolma, who won the award in 2021. Patrick Mullins (2010) and Jeremy Hall (2006) won conference freshman of the year honors in the ACC.
The 2023 MLS College Showcase, a closed-door scouting event officially sanctioned by the NCAA, will feature 44 top college players, ranging from freshmen to graduate students, participating in training sessions, testing, interviews and match play.
