Maryland Announces Play4Kay, Black History Month, NGWSD Initiatives at Feb. 5 Matchup

COLLEGE PARK, MD --  The eighth-ranked Maryland women's basketball team (18-5, 9-3 B1G) will host No. 6 Ohio State (20-3, 9-3) Sunday at 4 p.m. at the XFINITY Center. The Terps-Buckeyes matchup will be televised on ESPN2. The Terrapins are offering $4 general admission tickets to Sunday's game. Click here to purchase. 

Parking will be open in lots 9B, 4B, 11B and the Terrapin Trail Garage Sunday.

Play4Kay Pink Game

The Terrapins will honor all breast cancer survivors and those currently fighting in their annual Pink Game. 

Breast cancer survivors and those fighting can sign up for complimentary tickets for them and up to three guests. They can also participate in a recognition during the game. Click here for more information. 

"I Play For ____" signs will be available at the doors for fans to support their loved ones. 

Play4Kay is the initiative to support the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. The vision of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund is to be the premier non-profit organization dedicated to supporting innovative ways of fighting ALL cancers affecting women and providing support through giving strength, courage, and hope. Black History Month

 
Tiffany Blossom will sing "Lift Every Voice before the National Anthem at Sunday's game to celebrate the start of Black History Month. 

The Terrapins will continue to celebrate Black History Month at its two remaining home games in the month of February - Feb. 12 vs. Illinois and Feb. 21 vs. No. 6 Iowa. 

National Girls & Women in Sports Day


As part of the Maryland athletic department's celebration of NGWSD, Terrapin teams will be offering a Fearless Field Day event prior to Sunday's game. Kids are invited to join student-athletes and staff members from Maryland teams (including field hockey, women's soccer, volleyball, football, wrestling and the dance team) for a free sports clinic. The Fearless Field Day event begins at 3 p.m. in the XFINITY Center Pavilion. 

The Maryland women's basketball program, now in its 53rd season, will honor its three legendary head coaches prior to tip-off at Sunday's game. Dottie McKnight (1971-75), Chris Weller (1975-02) and Brenda Frese (2002-present) will come together to celebrate the storied success of the program. These three fearless women have led the Terrapins to 23 conference titles, 19 Sweet Sixteens, 14 Elite Eights, six Final Fours and the 2006 NCAA championship. As a program, Maryland has a record of 1,096-448 with a winning percentage of 71 percent. The Terrapins are No. 9 in NCAA Division I history in total wins.

Faith Masonius Bobblehead Giveaway

Sunday is Faith Masonius Bobblehead Day. Fans can pick up a scratch-off ticket at the entrance and 350 fans will win. Bobblehead pickup will be in the XFINITY Center Pavilion after the game.
