COLLEGE PARK, MD --  Maryland (19-5, 10-3 B1G) will play at Northwestern (8-15, 1-11) Thursday at 8:30 p.m. ET  at Welsh-Ryan Arena in Evanston, Ill. The Terps-Wildcats matchup will be televised on the Big Ten Network.

What's UP
  • Maryland beat then-No. 10 Ohio State, 90-54, Sunday in College Park in the Terrapins' biggest victory over a ranked opponent in program history. Diamond Miller led the way with 29 points and 1- rebounds. Abby Meyers added 22 points and Shyanne Sellers scored 19 with nine assists.
  • Brenda Frese and the Terps are 27-3 in the month of February over the last 5 seasons. Frese and the Terrapins are 33-1 at home at the XFINITY Center in the month of February since 2014.
  • Diamond Miller is one of 25 top players in the country named to the Wooden Award Midseason Watch List. She was also named to the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Midseason Final 10 list, as well as the Wade Watch and Naismith Midseason lists.
  • Shyanne Sellers was named to the Cheryl Miller Award Final 10 list for the nation's top small forward.
  • The Terrapins have the second-toughest schedule in the country this season, according to the Massey Ratings. The Terrapins are 5-3 vs. ranked teams this season with three wins over top 10 teams.
  • Maryland currently has five 1,000 point scorers (Miller - 1,482; Meyers - 1,287; Briggs - 1,116; Alexander - 1,045; Elisa Pinzan - 1,002).
  • Maryland women's basketball is in its 52nd season and owns a record of 1,097-448 (.710). The Terrapins are No. 11 all-time in NCAA Division I history in winning percentage and No. 9 in all-time victories.
  • Senior Diamond Miller was named to the 10-player Preseason All-Big Ten Team for the second straight season to start the year. She is a two-time All-Big Ten honoree and was the 2021 Big Ten Tournament Co-MOP.
  • Miller was also named to the Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Watch List as one of the top 50 players in the country.
  • Maryland was picked to finish fourth in the Big Ten by both the league's head coaches and media panel. Both groups picked Iowa to win the conference. The coaches selected Ohio State to finish second, Indiana to finish third with Michigan rounding out the top five. The media panel picked Indiana to finish second, Ohio State third and Michigan fifth.
  • Two-time National Coach of the Year Brenda Frese brings in nine new players this season, including AP Honorable Mention All-American honoree Abby Meyers (Princeton), All-SEC transfer Lavender Briggs (Florida), All-AAC transfer Elisa Pinzan (USF), SEC graduate transfer Brinae Alexander (Vanderbilt) and All-CAA transfer Allie Kubek (Towson).
  • All five transfers averaged over 9.0 points per game last year - Meyers (17.9), Alexander (15.2), Briggs (12.5), Kubek (12.2) and Pinzan (9.3).
  • Last spring, Frese also signed two top-55 incoming freshmen in Gia Cooke and Bri McDaniel. Incoming freshman Ava Sciolla and Mila Reynolds signed with Maryland last November, giving the Terrapins a top 10 recruiting class for the 15th time under Frese.

  • Head coach Brenda Frese is in her 21st season in College Park. She's led the Terrapins to a record of 554-145 (.793), 14 conference titles, 18 NCAA Tournament bids in 20 postseasons, three Final Fours, six Elite Eights, 10 Sweet Sixteens and the 2006 NCAA Championship. 
  • Frese owns a career record of 611-175 (.777) over her 24 years as a head coach.
  • Frese was named National Coach of the Year by the AP, The Athletic and ESPN at the end of the 2020-21 season. Last October, Frese was the first woman inducted into the Washington DC Metro Basketball Hall of Fame.
  • With the Terrapins' win at Nebraska on Feb. 14, 2021, Frese picked up win No. 500 at Maryland, which makes her the winningest coach in Maryland basketball history. Hall of Fame women's basketball head coach Chris Weller won 499 games in her 27 seasons (1975-02).
