Two Terps Named To All-Big Ten Second Team

College Park, MD - Two members of the Maryland Gymnastics program were selected to the All-Big Ten Second Team, the conference announced Wednesday. Senior Emma Silberman  and Sophomore Josephine Kogler each receive the conference honor for the first time in their Terrapin careers.

Silberman earns selection after a superb Senior season for the Terps competing in the all-around in every meet this season. The New Hope, Pennsylvania native has been a consistent force on all four events setting her career high with a 39.400 in the all-around on March 10 at the Maryland Quad. Silberman has also excelled on floor matching her career-high score of 9.900 five times in 2023 including three consecutive meets leading into Big Ten Championships. The Senior is a two-time Big Ten Gymnast to Watch and was named Big Ten Gymnast of the Week on February 21, 2023.

Kogler receives her first conference award after a stellar year competing on beam and vault. The anchor of the beam rotation, Kogler has been a consistent presence at the top of the scoresheet setting a new career-high of 9.925 on Feb. 11 against Rutgers and posting five scores of 9.900 or better. The Centereach, New York native has also been an important factor on vault earning an NQS of 9.830 and setting a season-high 9.875 on March 2 at the Temple Quad.

The Gym Terps will return to competition for the Big Ten Championships in Coralville, Iowa on Saturday, March 18 at 12:00 p.m. The Terps will compete in the first session against Penn State, Rutgers, Minnesota, Nebraska and Illinois. The meet will be available on B1G+ with live updates on @TerpsGymnastics on Twitter.
