Bosco, Clevenger, Ahearn Earn National & Conference Weekly Honors

COLLEGE PARK, MD -- A trio of Terps, Abby Bosco, Eloise Clevenger and Shaylan Ahearn, earned both national and conference honors for their play in wins over Johns Hopkins and Ohio State on Tuesday.
Bosco was named both the IWLCA National Defensive Player of the Week and the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, Clevenger was selected as the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week and Ahearn was named the Big Ten Midfielder of the Week.
Bosco was tremendous all over the field to lead Maryland to a pair of wins, totaling six groundballs, seven caused turnovers and 11 draw controls over the two games. On her senior day vs. Ohio State, the senior captain tallied seven draw controls, four groundballs and four caused turnovers, all game-highs, while holding Ohio State to just seven goals and 16 shots. Against Johns Hopkins, Bosco caused a game-high three turnovers, won four draw controls and picked up two groundballs. Bosco now ranks second in the Big Ten in caused turnovers (31) and third in groundballs (34) on the season.
This is Bosco's third Big Ten weekly honor, second this season (3/14) and first career IWLCA weekly honor. Last week she was the Inside Lacrosse and Unleashed National Player of the Week. It is the fourth time in five weeks Maryland has won Defensive Player of the Week as Emily Sterling was selected on March 21 and April 4.
Clevenger had a historic game in the Terps win over Ohio State, setting the Maryland program record with eight assists. This not only sets the Terrapin record, but is the most by any player in a single game in the nation this season. Clevenger becomes only the fourth player in the Big Ten era (2015-pres.) to have an eight assist game and only the 11th of any Big Ten player ever. The junior also scored a goal to have a career-high nine points, the second most by any Big Ten player in a game this season. Was involved in half of Maryland's goals (9-of-18). Clevenger broke the record of IWLCA National Offensive Player of the Year and current assistant coach Alex Aust, that has stood for 10 years (7 assists vs. UMBC in 2013).
This is Clevenger's second career Big Ten weekly honor and first of the season (5/3/22). This is the second week in a row Maryland has had the Offensive Player of the Week with Libby May earning the honors last week. Clevenger was also named the Solomon Eye Terp of Week.
Ahearn was key in Maryland's two wins, tallying three goals, three assists, 16 draw controls, two groundballs and three caused turnovers. The senior captain had eight draw controls in each game and helped lead Maryland to a 19-10 advantage in the circle in each game, a .655 win percentage to help dominate possession. Ahearn reached 100 draws on the season for the second time in her career, only the third Terp ever to have multiple 100 draw control seasons (Taylor Cummings & Kali Hartshorn). Against Johns Hopkins, Ahearn had three goals and an assist to match her career-highs and was key late in the game, scoring the game-tying goal on a free position attempt with 7:43 left to knot the game at 11 and then assisted on a Libby May goal to give the Terps a 12-11 lead two minutes later.
This is Ahearn's fourth week in a row winning Big Ten Midfielder of the Week honors and fifth time this season, the most in the conference. It is her seventh career Big Ten weekly honor.
