COLLEGE PARK, MD - Three members of the Maryland field hockey program,
Hope Rose,
Josie Hollamon and
Rayne Wright qualified for the gold medal match at the 2023 Junior Pan American Championships. The U.S. U-21 Women's National Team battled Chile in the semifinal match at Wildey Hockey Centre in Saint Michael, Barbados. The U-21 USWNT finished the match 1-1 in regulation, but finished with an excellent effort in shootouts, going 2-0 in four rounds, to claim victory.
With the win, the U-21 USWNT is guaranteed at least a silver medal after already qualifying for a spot in the 2023 Junior World Cup with their 4-1 victory over Uruguay on Friday, April 14. USA will match up against Argentina for the second time this tournament on Tuesday, April 18 at 3:30 p.m. ET in the JPAC final. The two teams met earlier in Pool play, as Team USA fell to Argentina 2-0.
