Renaldo Nehemiah Selected for Track & Field/Cross Country Athlete Hall of Fame

NEW ORLEANS, LA - Renaldo Nehemiah (Track and Field '81) will be inducted into the Collegiate Track & Field/Cross Country Athlete Hall of Fame as part the the 2023 class. The inductees were chosen solely on their accomplishments as collegiate athletes.

Nehemia will be enshrined at the Hult Center for the Performing Arts in Eugene, Oregon on September 14th, just before the Diamond League Final, the Prefontaine Classic, in Eugene.

As a Terp, Nehemiah shined right away. During his freshman year at Maryland, he won the 70m at the NCAA Indoor Championship, running a then meet record of 7.11 seconds.

In his sophomore year, Nehemiah got even better. He won the 110 hurdles at the 1979 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships, running in a wind-aided 12.91 seconds, which still stands as the quickest time by a collegiate athlete under all conditions. In addition, Nehemiah led the Terps to 4x200 and 4x400 titles at the Penn Relays, to add onto to a 4x100 crown from his freshman year at the event.

Nehemiah also earned one of his five NCAA All-American honors as part of Maryland's 4x400 team, as well as ACC titles at 60m, 200m, and twice in the 100m.
