COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The Broadcast & Production department in Maryland Athletics has earned seven Capital Emmy nominations, as announced by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter. All six current or former full-time broadcast & production employees were listed in the nominations.
"For every full-time staff member to receive a Capital Emmy nomination is a testament to their hard work, passion for storytelling, and desire to build one of the best production teams in college athletics," said Mike Farrell, Associate Athletic Director of the Broadcast & Production unit. "We've been able to develop a strong process for the type of stories we want to tell and these nominations are a result of that process. It's exciting to see the continued growth of this department, and we appreciate the resources and trust of our administration and the teams we collaborate with. This is an incredibly talented market, so it is humbling to see our team recognized."
The Wizard: A Walt Williams Documentary; was nominated for the Capital Emmy for Sports - One-Time Special. Joining it on the other nomination lists are: All-Access | 20 Years of the Crew, The Kids Have Done It, and Under the Shell. Additionally, the team earned nominations for their promotional campaign, a women's basketball single spot brand spot, as well as Farrell being nominated in the sports editor category.
The 65th Capital Emmy Awards will be held June 24th at the North Bethesda Marriott Hotel and Conference Center. The winners will be announced there.
