Stanford, CA -- The No. 3 Terps opened their season with a 4-0 victory over Stanford. Maryland showed depth in its season opener with four different goal scorers.
The Terp defense was stout all afternoon. Paige Kieft started in goal and made two saves.
Freshman Maci Bradford led the way with a goal and an assist.
Maryland will continue its California road trip to open the season with games against Cal and UC Davis on Sunday and Monday.

- The Terps started the scoring two minutes into the game with a penalty corner goal from graduate transfer Sammy Popper.
- Shortly after Popper's goal, freshman Maci Bradford capitalized on an offensive rush scoring her first career goal halfway through the first quarter.
- Maryland defense locked down the circle in the first half, only allowing one shot on goal that was quickly turned away by junior goaltender Paige Kieft.
- The Terps leading scorer from last season, Hope Rose, joined in the scoring with a penalty corner goal that soared past the Stanford goalkeeper to begin the final quarter.

- Maryland took an early lead thanks to Popper and Bradford, both fresh faces on the Terp roster.
- Sophomore transfer Hannah Boss' presence was felt across the field as she continued to disrupt Stanford's offense by forcing turnovers.
- The Terps were awarded a penalty corner near the end of the third quarter. Freshman Josie Hollamon sent in a shot from the top of the circle that was tipped in by Boss to extend the Terps lead to three at the end of the third quarter.
