Box Score CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA -- The No. 5 Terps picked up their biggest win of non-conference play on Monday, conquering No. 6 Virginia on the road, 2-1, at Turf Field in Charlottesville, VA. Maryland is now 7-2 overall.
Maryland notched its pair of goals in the second quarter, with Margot Lawn firing the opening salvo off a rebound and Hannah Boss collecting on an inbound pass from Ashlyn Carr.

- The Maryland defense started strong in the first fifteen minutes. Virginia didn't manage a scoring opportunity until the final seconds of the first quarter. The Hoos picked up a penalty corner with 14 seconds remaining in the quarter but their first shot of the night went wide of the cage.
- Maryland was awarded two penalty corners in the first quarter but couldn't pick up a shot on goal.
- After freshman Alyssa Klebasko tallied two stellar saves, junior Hope Rose drove down the pitch and into the circle, passing to sophomore Hannah Boss. - Klebasko had another lights-out game as the freshman turned away every offensive drive by the Hoos.
- The final goal of the night was scored with under 30 seconds remaining in the game. Virginia was awarded a penalty stroke goal after an official review. Junior Paige Kieft came into the game to face the shot, but Virginia managed to slip the ball to the left side of the cage.
