Box Score STATE COLLEGE, PA --Â Maryland women's basketball was defeated by Penn State, 112-76, on Sunday at Bryce Jordan Center.Â
The Terps (12-8, 4-5 B1G) trailed by as many as 14 points in the first half before briefly closing the gap to four points early in the second quarter. However, Maryland was unable to complete the comeback as the Penn State (15-5, 6-3 B1G) offense remained hot throughout and extended its lead as the game went on.
Maryland's leading scorer Shyanne Sellers suffered an injury in the second quarter that ruled her out for the remaining contest. The Terps struggled to bounce back after their star point guard went down.  Â
Ranked No. 26 in the latest NCAA NET rankings, Maryland was led by Jakia Brown-Turner who matched her Maryland career-high in her last outing. Brown-Turner notched 21 points to eclipse the 1,500Â mark in her career and added six rebounds.
Bri McDaniel scored 12 to tally double-digits in five out of her last six games and
Brinae Alexander netted 10 points. Â

McDaniel knocked down three straight shots from the floor, including back-to-back three-pointers to ignite her own 8-0 run in the second quarter. Brown-Turner joined the run with a layup that brought the score to 23-19. It was the closest Maryland trailed since Penn State mounted its double-digit lead.Â

Penn State was ranked No. 28 in the NCAA NET rankings and extended its conference win streak to five games as four players tallied double-digit scoring. Makenna Marisa led all Lions scorers with 24 points.

They led by as many as 20 points during the quarter and escaped with a 79-60 lead after Chanaya Pinto drilled a three-pointer as time ran out. Â
- Maryland was unable to close the gap and Penn State cruised to its fifth straight conference victory.

"You saw that fatigue take place with their depth and the pressing that they were able to do," Brenda Frese said. "The amount of turnovers they were able to force us into really impacted us through their depth and our lack thereof."
