
Four Terps Post Personal-Best Marks At Big Ten Championship

SAVOY, IL – Four Terps posted personal-best marks on Friday morning as Maryland finished 15th overall at the Big Ten Cross Country Championship hosted by the University of Illinois at the Orange and Blue Golf Course.
Rose Coats led Maryland with a 28th-place finish crossing the line in 20 minutes, 1.2 seconds – just 1.3 seconds off her personal-best and school-record mark set at the Princeton Fall Classic.
Four Terps had personal-best times on Friday including three in the top five finishers. Katie Turk (72nd) ran a time of 20:36.2, Eva Rogers (85th) recorded a mark of 20:49.3 and Emmi Simon (147th) clocked 21 minutes, 38.0 seconds on the 6K course. Emma Pegg also had a personal-best mark finishing the race in 22 minutes, 17.0 seconds.
Coats came off the starting line strong as she stood third after the first 1,000 meters, 5th through 3,000 meters, and 6th as she neared 4,000 meters. At the 5,000 meter mark she fell back to 11th.
Big Ten newcomer and 17th-ranked Oregon won the overall team title after going 1-2 among the individual finishers and placing all five of their scorers in the top-12. No. 2 Washington finished second, while 11th-ranked Wisconsin was third.
Up Next: Maryland will return to action on Nov. 15 at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional in State College, Pa.
