Poffenbarger Named Solomon Eye Physicians & Surgeons Terp of Week

COLLEGE PARK, MD -- Each week during the 2024-25 season a Maryland student-athlete, who has shown excellence on and off the playing field, will be selected as the Solomon Eye Physicians & Surgeons Terp of the Week.

This week's Terp of the Week is Saylor Poffenbarger of the No. 7-ranked women's basketball team.

Poffenbarger, a Middletown, Md. native, had back to back double-doubles off the bench to help Maryland (8-0) to two wins in the Navy Classic this weekend. Poffenbarger averaged 14.5 points and 11.0 rebounds and picked up her first two double-doubles as a Terp. She added 5 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks in the two wins.

Against a 6-0 George Mason team, Poffenbarger scored 10 points with a season-high 12 rebounds. She subbed in in the first quarter and immediately scored 5 points and notched an assist as the Terps led by 10 at the end of the period. She grabbed seven of her rebounds in the second half and had a key steal and an assist to put the Terps up by two possessions in the fourth quarter. Against Toledo, she once again subbed in and made an instant impact. She led the Terrapins with 19 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks. She scored 6 points with 2 key assists in the fourth quarter alone.

Poffenbarger and the Terps host Mount St. Mary's (0-5) Tuesday at 7 p.m.
