
Williams Homers, But Terps Suffer 11-4 Loss To Syracuse

The Orange (5-3) broke open the game with a six-run second inning. Maryland (3-5) crept back into the game with two runs in the third, but Syracuse pulled away late.
Williams had a big day with the two-run blast along with an RBI single for three RBIs as she went 3-for-4 at the plate. Michaela Jones went 2-for-3 as she drove in the Terps' fourth run with a triple to score Mazie MacFarlane.

- Maryland jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead as Williams singled home Jaeda McFarland, who opened the game by reaching on a hit-by-pitch and stealing second base.
- Syracuse answered the Terps with a six-run bottom of the first to take a 6-1 lead. Tessa Galipeau smacked a two-run homer to finish the inning.
- In the top of the third Williams blasted a two-run homer to right center to draw Maryland within two, scoring McFarland, who was hit by a pitch for the second time in the game.
- Syracuse tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the fourth to make it 9-3 with runs coming on Taylor Posner's RBI single, Rebecca Clyde doubling in Posner and a sacrifice fly.
- The Terps got one back as Jones tripled in MacFarlane to cut the deficit to 9-4 in the top of the sixth.
- The Orange answered yet again as it scored its 10th run on a wild pitch. A sac fly brought home another run making it 11-4.
- 4: Williams now has a four-game hitting streak.
- 6: Runyan has a six-game hitting streak and has hits in seven of eight games this season.
- 7: Jones had her seventh career triple in the game.
- 20: Jones posted her 20th career multi-hit game.
- 21: Williams now has 21 career homers with two this season, her first as a Terp.
- 53: McFarland had her 53rd stolen base in the game, fourth-most in Maryland history.
