Maria Budin Named Solomon Eye Physicians & Surgeons Terp of the Week

COLLEGE PARK, MD - Each week during the 2023-24 season a Maryland student-athlete, who has shown excellence on and off the playing field, will be selected as the Solomon Eye Physicians & Surgeons Terp of the Week.
This week's Terp of the Week is Maria Budin, who went 3-1 overall this past weekend, playing a key role in a pair of wins. The wins included Maryland's first win over a Top-30 opponent on Sunday vs. No. 29 Wisconsin.
Budin won the No. 1 doubles match alongside Minorka Miranda, 6-4, In the Terrapins first match of the weekend against Minnesota. Budin then cruised through the No. 4 singles match, winning 6-1, 6-2 to earn Maryland's first singles point of the match.
Budin came back to win a three-set battle in the No. 4 singles match after losing the first set against No. 29 Wisconsin on Senior Day. Budin's singles win scored Maryland's second point to pull the Terps within one after trailing 3-1. Budin's singles win played an important part in the eventual upset win for the Terps to close out the regular season.
Maryland is back in action on Thursday, April 25th for the second round of the 2024 Big Ten Women's Tennis Tournament as the sixth seed.
