Silberman Qualifies for NCAA Championships

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Maryland gymnast Emma Silberman captured the Gainesville Regional individual vault championship after her performance Friday and was announced as an individual qualifier to the NCAA Championships Monday afternoon. 

Silberman notched a career high 9.950 to become co-champion with Florida's Victoria Nguyen. The senior's score was the second highest vault mark in program history and the best ever at an NCAA Regional. 

Silberman is the first individual qualifier for the Terps since 2001 when Jill Fisher and Gillian Cote both qualified. 

The championships, hosted by Texas Woman's University and Knight Eady, will be held at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, April 18 to 20. Team semifinal and individual competition will be conducted in two sessions Thursday, April 18, at 4:30 and 9 p.m. Eastern time. The top two teams from each semifinal will advance to the championship final competition Saturday, April 20, at 4 p.m. Eastern time. Both semifinals will be broadcast live on ESPN2, and championship final competition will be broadcast live on ABC.
