LEXINGTON, KY - The Maryland track and field team wrapped up their final meet of the year at the NCAA East First Round. Ten Terps qualified for the meet, which was the most since 2021.
Kayla Thorpe led the way for the squad and qualified for NCAA Championships in June by breaking her one school record in the women's javelin with a monstrous throw of 51.95m, which was good for sixth place.
Other Highlights
- Mekhi Abbott broke his own school javelin record with his throw of 64.19m, finishing just outside of the top twelve that would have seen him move onto NCAA Championships
- Eric Albright ran 1:48.79 in the men's 800m, just missing out on a spot in the quarterfinals
- Andrew Harmon tossed 57.94m in the men's hammer throw
- Jeff Kline threw 18.17m in the men's shot put
- Kevin Collins ran 21.04 seconds in the men's 200m
- Anna Coffin competed in the women's 1500m, crossing the finish line in 4:25.90
- Morgan Graham threw 52.76m in the women's discus
- Tolu Akinduro jumped 12.01m in the women's triple jump
