
Shearer Hits First Career Homer In Series Win At Wisconsin, 6-5

With the win, Maryland clinched a spot in the Big Ten Tournament in Iowa City, Iowa. The tournament begins on May 8.
Julia Shearer starred for the Terps in the circle and the batter's box. The freshman hit her first career home run in the fourth inning and finished her outing with her first multi-hit game, going 2-for-3.

Sydney Lewis (3-for-3), Jaeda McFarland (3-for-4), Mazie MacFarlane (2-for-3), Megan Mikami (3-for-4) and Madison Runyan (2-for-3) also recorded multiple hits. Lewis led the Terps with a team-high three RBIs. MacFarlane added an RBI, and she and Mikami scored two runs. Mikami and McFarland also added stolen bases and rank first and second respectively, for career stolen bases in program history.

- Maryland got on the board early in the first inning and took a 2-0 lead. Jaeda McFarland and Mazie MacFarlane hit singles and stole bases. Sydney Lewis then hit a two-RBI single to drive both of them home.
- Wisconsin responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning to tie the game. The runs were manufactured by an RBI single and a sacrifice fly.
- The Terps broke the tie and led 4-2 entering the bottom of the third. MacFarlane hit an RBI double, and she later scored on a throwout to second base.
- Maryland extended its lead to 5-2 after Julia Shearer hit her first career home run to center field in the fourth inning.
