BETHESDA, MD -- The Broadcast & Production department in Maryland Athletics won two Capital Emmy Awards as announced by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, National Capital
Chesapeake Bay Chapter on Saturday at the 66th Annual Awards ceremony.
"I'm incredibly proud of our Broadcast & Production team for this year's four Capital Emmy nominations and two wins," said
Mike Farrell, Associate Athletic Director for Broadcasting & Production. "The collaboration process internally, and with our other external team partners, enabled us to deliver on both a creative and organizational directive. To be honored with two awards in such a strong sports market showcases the skill and hard work of this team. Our goal is to tell a great story that connects to our audience in a creative way. These pieces, and many more from this past year, did just that.
It marked the eighth and ninth Capital Emmy awards won over the last three years for the unit led by Farrell.
Farrell won an Emmy for the categor of Promotion - Sports Single Spot with the entry "Maryland Football | Again."

The department was also nominated for two additional categories: Sports Program - Post-Produced or Edited with Sean 5 of UNLOCKED with credit to former Maryland staff member John Bartman, Producer/Editor and Dominick Acierno, Editor. Farrell was also nominated in the category of Editor: Sports for his Sports Editor Composite.
Additionally, Maryland student production lead Andrew Deguzman was nominated for the SVG College Sports Media Awards in the category of Collegiate Student - Power, for his video: Maryland Baseball: The Swope Era Begins.
