UMTERPS.COM SAT DOWN SAYLOR POFFENBARGER TO GET TO KNOW HER ON AND OFF THE COURT

Question: What made you start playing basketball?

Saylor Poffenbarger: My mom played basketball in college so I feel like I grew up around the gym just playing with her. It was kind of our way of doing something together.

Q: Who has been the most influential person in your life?

SP: My parents, they have always pushed me to be better and I feel like they have always set the tone with their work ethic.

Q: What has been the most memorable experience of your career so far?

SP: The different relationships I have built. I have been at three different schools and I just feel like it's full circle with the people I have met here at Maryland. Also, the relationships I had a Arkansas have been super important to me and something I will cherish forever.

Q: What are your pre-game rituals?

SP: I don't have any and I can't be superstitious but I do always like to have my hair done a certain way before I get to the gym.

Q: What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?

SP: I feel like it's corny but never give up. For me, I've had a bunch of personal goals and I've gotten to the point that I have felt like I was giving up but I had to remind myself to continue pushing because there's always something else you can do and there's always people that you can impact.

Q: What is your intended major and dream job?

SP: My major is Sociology and my dream job is to be an agent for someone in the NFL or I would like to work for my dad.

Q: Why Maryland?

SP: I think this time around, it felt perfect. It felt like home when I came here and I'm very lucky to have Brenda as my coach. She has a lot of trust and belief in me which is important to me when finishing my career.

Q: Favorite part of the Croatia trip?

SP: Being able to meet everyone else and get to know my teammates more on our trip was something I was super grateful for. We all go to the gym every day, but being able to connect on a boat and just learn our personalities was cool.

Q: If you didn't play basketball, what sport would you play?

SP: Lacrosse, I would do the draw.

Q: If you brought a friend to Maryland, where would you take them to eat?

SP: Board and Brew

Q: If you could have dinner with three people dead or alive, who would they be?

SP: Maya Moore, Odell Beckham, Kim Kardashian

Q: If your sport had a mascot based on you, what would it be?

SP: Pink Barbie or a pink shark
