Maryland Athletics Receives $1M Gift to Celebrate Brick-Zupancic’s Legacy, Support Women’s Basketball Program

College Park, MD – Victor and Lynne Brick, longtime Baltimore County residents and prominent local business owners and community leaders, have made a $1 million commitment in support of the Maryland Women's Basketball Program.

Their daughter, Vicki Brick-Zupancic '04, was a member of the Maryland women's basketball team from 2000-2004 and passed away in April 2025 from ovarian cancer. The Brick's commitment establishes the Vicki Brick-Zupancic Memorial Endowed Scholarship for Women's Basketball and dedicates the Vicki Brick-Zupancic Women's Basketball Locker Room at the Barry P. Gossett Basketball Performance Center.

"We're so proud of what Vicki did here and how she was thought of and how she will be remembered," said Victor. "We're so proud that she was a Maryland Terp. We're so invested in the University. Neither one of us went here, but we feel reconnected with the program."

"Vicki loved everything about the University of Maryland student-athlete experience," said Lynne. "From academics to athletics and beyond, her beloved Terps became part of her DNA. Vicki also shared her passion with her daughter, Jordan, who knows the Terp's fight song by heart."

Brick-Zupancic was a four-time first team All-ACC Academic and the captain of the 2003-04 Terps. She graduated from the University of Maryland in 2004 with a degree in Public Health and went on to play professional basketball overseas. After her playing career she joined the family health club business, Brick Bodies, and in 2013 she was named CEO of the company. She was a beloved wife to Evan Zupancic and devoted mother to Jordan Zupancic.

"Maryland Athletics and the University of Maryland are special because of the people, and the Bricks embody this to the fullest extent," said Jim Smith, Barry P. Gossett Director of Athletics. "We are fortunate to be able to celebrate Vicki's legacy in these meaningful ways and to help pass along her passion, perseverance and unwavering spirit to generations of Terps to come."
"Vicki was a rockstar, a winner and a warrior," said Brenda Frese, Maryland Women's Basketball Head Coach. "Every time we walk in and out of the Vicki Brick-Zupancic Locker Room we're representing her and it's an honor we don't take lightly. When you play for us, you're family for life, and the Brick's are the perfect embodiment of this ethos."
