COLLEGE PARK, MD – This week, the University of Maryland's Women's Tennis team will travel to Blacksburg, Virginia, where they will compete in the ITA Atlantic Regionals Tournament. The event, hosted by Virginia Tech, will take place from Thursday, October 16th, to Tuesday, October 21st.
This will be the second ITA tournament the Terps have competed in, the last one being the ITA All-American Championship, where only three members participated (Emma Ghiradato,
Oliwia Orlinska, and
Ema Kovacevic).
This upcoming tournament will feature all members of the active roster, including newcomers
Lucia Donnelly,
Magdalena Baniak, and
Emma Ghirardato. All three have had terrific starts to their Terps careers, going a collective 8-1 in singles and 5-3 in doubles matches to start the fall season.
Freshman
Lucia Donnelly and
Magdalena Baniak will participate in the Qualifying Draw, with Baniak coming in as the #2 Seed and Donnelly as the #11 Seed. Juniors
Aida Eissa and
Katherine Hung are also competing in the Qualifying draw beginning Thursday. The Terps will need to win 2 matches to advance to the Main Draw. Matches begin tomorrow at 9:00 AM Eastern.

Lucia Donnelly, who will only participate in singles matches, the doubles pairings are as follows:

This will be the last tournament the Terps will be participating in October, leading up to November, where they will compete in the ITA Sectionals Championship in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, from November 6th to November 9th, and the UNF Fall invite in Jacksonville, FL November 7th-9th.
