A career-high 23 points from Oluchi Okananwa paved the way for the Terps' seventh win of the season

COLLEGE PARK, MD — No. 9 Maryland improved to 7-0 with an 84-62 win over George Mason to keep its undefeated season alive and take momentum into this week's Discover Puerto Rico Classic.

Oluchi Okananwa had another big day for the Terps with a career-high 23 points, four rebounds and five assists .

Yarden Garzon contributed a season-high 16 points to the Terps 10th all-time win over the Patriots to stay unbeaten against George Mason (4-2) in program history.

With their 84-point performance, Maryland has scored at least 80 points in its first seven games to start a season for the first time this century. The Terps utilized points from eight different scorers as they outrebounded the Patriots 46-28 and used a series of long runs to move to 7-0.

How It Happened:
1st Quarter:

Kaylene Smikle tallied the Terps' first points with a layup.
Yarden Garzon hit an early three.
Maryland took its first lead during a 10-0 run.
Isimenme Ozzy-Momodu recorded her first points to put Maryland up 14-10.
The Patriots tied the contest at 18-18 with a three.
George Mason took a 24-23 lead into the second quarter.

2nd Quarter:

Okananwa tallied the Terps' first bucket of the second quarter with a layup.
Smikle added a layup early in the frame.
A Poffenbarger jumper tied the game at 36-36 as time expired in the half.

3rd Quarter:

Maryland opened the quarter on a 13-3 run to take a 49-39 lead early in the frame.
An Okananwa jumper put Maryland up 55-44 midway through the period.
Garzon hit another three in the closing minutes.
Maryland took a 68-53 lead into the fourth.

4th Quarter:

The Terps led 76-61 at the final media break.
Maryland used a late 10-0 run to pull away in the final minutes.
The Terps earned a 84-62 win over the Patriots.

Addi Mack (12 points) has posted four straight double-digit performances.
Okananwa (23 points) has scored 10+ points in all seven of Maryland's contests this season and 43 times in her career.
Garzon (16 points) scored in double figures for the fourth time this season and the 68th time in her career.
