COLLEGE PARK, MD -- Each week during the 2025-26 season a Maryland student-athlete, who has shown excellence on and off the playing field, will be selected as the Solomon Eye Physicians & Surgeons Terp of the Week.

This week's Terp of the Week is Oluchi Okananwa of women's basketball.

Junior Oluchi Okananwa has been the Terps' most consistent player in helping them to a 12-0 start. Okananwa is leading No. 7 Maryland with 15.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.7 steals per game. She continued to be the terps' steadying presence in a dominant win over Delaware State on Dec. 10. Coming off of a double-overtime win at Minnesota, Okananwa and the Terps had a short turnaround before facing the Hornets. The Terrapins were down three starters and Okananwa helped carry the load. She scored a team-high 18 points with 6 rebounds and 3 steals vs. Delaware State. She scored a career-high 25 points in 39 minutes in the Terps' double overtime win just 72 hours prior. She has led the Terps in scoring in 7 of 12 games so far.
