Three Climp Top 10 Charts On Final Day Of Penn State National Open

UNIVERSITY PARK, MD – Three Terps climbed the program's all-time top 10 charts as the Maryland women's track team finished day two of the Penn State National Open at the Horace Ashenfelter III Indoor Track.
 
Maryland saw a pair runners post top-10 times in the 600 meters. Kami Joi Hickson posted the second-fastest time in program history (1:31.26) to finish fifth overall in the seeded 600 meter event. In the unseeded 600 meters, Lydia Robling finished second with a time of 1:33.42 which is the eighth fastest all-time.
 
In the 3,000 meters, Katie Turk ran the second fastest time in program history going 9-minutes, 30.75 seconds to finish ninth overall.
 
Other top performances included Katerina Talanova placing fourth in the 1,000 meters (2:54.56), Maya Valmon placing sixth in the 200 meters (24.67), and Sam Payne placing ninth in the 200 meters with a PR of 24.76 seconds. Emma Pegg was just behind Hickson to finish ninth overall in the seeded 600 meters (1:33.51).
 
"This group is dedicated to putting their best foot forward week after week," said head coach Andrew Valmon. "We maximized the opportunity to get better this weekend from start to finish."
 
Maryland will resume competition next Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Indiana Fairgrounds Invitational in Indianapolis.
