Terrapins Lose to Notre Dame 4-3

COLLEGE PARK, MD -- The University of Maryland women's tennis team came up short in a closely fought match against Notre Dame on Saturday, losing 4-3.

The Terrapins opened the match by earning a tough doubles point, with Danielle Hack and Diya Challa taking the No. 2 doubles match 7-5 and Tamari Gagoshidze and Oliwia Orlinska taking the No. 3 doubles match 7-6.

Kallista Liu kept the momentum up for Maryland, winning the No. 1 singles match 6-1, 6-1 to push the Terps head 2-0.

Notre Dame's Nibi Ghosh defeated Oliwia Orlinska in the No. 4 singles match 6-3, 6-0 to get Notre Dame on the board. Notre Dame then tied the match at two taking the No. 6 singles match 6-2, 6-2.

#67 Akari Matsuno of Notre Dame defeated Danielle Hack 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 3 singles match to put Notre Dame up 3-2.

Tamari Gagoshidze tied the match up again at three, coming back after losing the first set to win the No. 5 singles match 3-6, 6-1, 6-1.

Notre Dame then clinched the 4-3 win, taking the No. 2 singles match.
