Terps Lose Game One Of Doubleheader To Belmont, 3-0

NASHVILLE, TN – Maryland softball was defeated by Belmont in game one of its doubleheader, 3-0, at Rose Park on Friday afternoon. The Terps are now 5-9 overall. They are back in action against the Bruins at 7 p.m. 

Belmont scored one run in the bottom of the first and two in the third off a single and a double. The Terps held the Bruins to just six hits but couldn't reach the scoring column. Matti Benson, Madison Runyan and Mazie MacFarlane each recorded hits for Maryland. 

Bri Godfrey started in the circle. She went three innings, surrendering three runs on four hits. She also struck out a batter. Keira Bucher entered the game and pitched the remaining three innings. She struck out four batters and surrendered two hits and zero runs. 

Belmont pitcher Maya Johnson threw a complete-game shutout with 13 strikeouts. The Bruins improved to 11-6 overall.
