ATLANTA, GA -- Senior
Shyanne Sellers of the 16th-ranked Maryland women's basketball team was named to the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Top 10 List Tuesday – an honor given to the nation's top shooting guard.
Sellers, a native of Aurora, Ohio, is averaging 14.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists this season. She reached the 1,500 career points mark in Sunday's game vs. Illinois and is currently No. 18 on Maryland's all-time scoring list with 1,510 career points.
Sellers is No. 7 all-time in program history with 483 career assists. She needs four to pass Anjale Barrett (2008-12) at No. 6 (486) and six to pass Alyssa Thomas (2011-14) at No. 5 (488). Sellers' career free throw percentage of 81.5 percent is No. 3 all-time in Maryland women's basketball history.
Sellers has scored in double figures in 17 of 20 games played this season, including all 11 games in Big Ten play.
Sellers was named to the 10-player Preseason All-Big Ten Team for the second straight season earlier this fall. Last year, she earned All-Big Ten First Team honors and was a WBCA All-Region finalist.
