Team Effort Leads Terps Past Mount St. Mary’s, 9-3

COLLEGE PARK, MD – Maryland baseball curried past Mount St. Mary's, 9-3, at Bob "Turtle" Smith Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. Maryland improved to 9-8, as six different Terps drove in a run in the game.  

The Terps trailed the Mountaineers (7-8) 2-1 early in the top of the second inning before scoring three runs to take the lead in the bottom half of the inning to take the lead. The three runs contributed to seven unanswered runs scored the rest of the game.  

Freshman Parker Corbin recorded the first multi-hit game of his career, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs. He also added two walks, reaching base in four of his five plate appearances. 

  Eddie Hacopian, Chris Hacopian, Alex Calarco, Hollis Porter and Elijah Lambros were the other Terps to contribute RBIs, each supplying one. Porter (2-for-4), Orr (2-for-5), Aden Hill (2-for-4) and Brayden Martin (2-for-4) were the others to record multiple hits. 
  Andrew Koshy earned his first career win as a Terp, pitching three innings and striking out three batters while allowing zero runs on just one hit. He pitched in relief for Ryan Bailey, who made his first collegiate start on the mound. 

Devin Milberg and Jack Wren each pitched two innings in relief. They both struck out two batters and surrendered one hit. Joey McMannis finished the game, recording the final three outs. 

Mount St. Mary added one final run in the eighth. The Terps out-hit the Mountaineers 13-5.

  • Mount St. Mary's took an opening inning lead after hitting a two-run RBI double.
  • Alex Calarco drove in a run for the Terps, off an RBI groundout.

  • Hollis Porter belted an RBI double deep to right field, increasing Maryland's lead to 9-2 in the seventh inning.
  • Mount St. Mary scored its final run of the game in the eighth.
