SETTING THE STAGE
- The GymTerps begin week three ranked No. 31 in the Road to Nationals ranking. Maryland also placed at No. 26 on vault and No. 25 on bars.
- The GymTerps enter regionals following a 195.700 finish at the Big Ten Championships.
- Junior Madeline Komoroski tied for a 6th place podium finish on beam at the Big Ten Championships. Komoroski sealed a 9.925 score.
- Sophomore Natalie Martin was named to the All-Big Ten Championship team for her performances.
- Senior Hailey Merchant performed a stunning 9.875 bars routine, contributing to the 49.225 event score.
- The first round of NCAA Regionals will feature Maryland and West Virginia competing for a spot in the second round, which will include eight teams, followed by the regional final with the top four teams.
- The second round features No. 8 seed Michigan State, No. 9 seed Kentucky, Ohio state, Penn State, No. 1 seed LSU, No. 16 seed Arkansas and Michigan.
- There will be a total of eight teams, four all-around competitors and 16 event specialists advancing from regional competition to the national championships. The top two teams, the top all-around competitors, and the top event specialists on each event (who are not on an advancing team) from each regional will receive an automatic berth to the national championships.
- Maryland has now qualified for the last seven NCAA Regionals, with the 2020 Championship being canceled due to Covid-19.
- Senior Tasha Brozowski was named a 2025 Big Ten Sportsmanship Honoree.
- Both Rhea LeBlanc and Alexa Rothenbuescher were named 2025 AAI Award Nominees.
- Senior Sierra Kondo reached a career high of 9.950 on uneven bars at the Terrapins home opener against a ranked UCLA.
- Kondo not only set a personal best but also tied the program's individual event record, cementing her place among Maryland's all-time greats.
- Maryland broke its attendance record at their home opener, drawing an incredible 7,287 fans for the highly anticipated matchup against the previously ranked No. 11 UCLA.
- Terps were ranked No. 24 in the WCGA Preseason Coaches Poll and No. 22 in the College Gym News Preseason Poll. The Terps enter the 2025 season looking to reach the NCAA Regionals for the seventh consecutive year (seven including the 2020 season, when Regionals were not held due to the COVID-19 pandemic).
Graduate Alexa Rothenbuescher was named a 2025 AAI Award Nominee.
Checking out the schedule
- The NCAA Regional meets will take place between April 2 and 6, where Maryland hopes to improve upon their 196.350 score from 2024. The NCAA semis and finals will be held between April 17 and 19.
Sophomore Natalie Martin was named a Big Ten Gymnast to watch prior to the season.
